Born and raised in Santa Fe, NM — where her Spanish-indigenous lineage stretches back more than 500 years — Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Rebecca Trujillo Vest, known as Osmunda Music, channels her ancestral memory and hard-won losses into sonic rituals of loss, hope, protest, and renewal.
Cutting through the noise, Osmunda — part neo-hippy troubadour, part sonic shaman — whispers field notes from the spiritual trenches. Her music floats between genres — a blend of cosmic folk and ethereal pop — evoking the spiritual minimalism of Ajeet, the intimacy of Nahko, the feminist vulnerability of artists like Ayla Nereo or Lila Rose, and the emotional gravity of Joni Mitchell in her Hejira era. What emerges is a body of work that transmutes personal and collective pain into anthems of awakening.
In January 2025, 14 blazes scorched more than 40,000 acres and leveled over 16,000 homes across Southern California, including Trujillo-Vest's home in the Pacific Palisades. The experience of displacement quietly reoriented her creative process, inviting her to slow down, listen inward, and let the EP release on its own terms.
"Since the fires, I've given myself the grace to slow down," says Trujillo-Vest, "to stop juggling three songs at once, and just be with one. That's been a quiet kind of luxury."
Her discography unfolds like chapters of an ongoing story: her 2019 debut, "Munda," was a global pilgrimage in listening to the earth. "Love Will Overcome" (released that same year) was a protest album in disguise, processing the chaos of the 2016–2020 world. "Sending My Love" (2020) was the story of one mother in lockdown, writing her way back to hope, followed by "Take My Hand" (2023), and "Heartful of Peace" (2024), which bridges music and education — a visionary album and animated video series designed to instill compassion, acceptance, and environmental stewardship in young children. Her most recent release, "Spread the Love Around" (2025), is a luminous international collaboration rooted in healing, human connection, and spiritual resilience, brought to life with producers and musicians across four states and three countries. Each project took shape at Earthstar Creation Center, the Venice Beach recording studio she co-founded in 2010.
